By that time, it was pretty common to get expansions in separate CDs after you bought the original game. But in many of the cases, they were so filled with problems and things that, instead of expanding the game, made the title more laggy and unstable.
In games like Doom 3D , these expansion packs were also mostly limited to just adding new weapons and such. But Blizzard made things pretty different there. In games like Warcraft 2 and Diablo , they added incredible amounts of content into the original game through these expansions. This is what expansions should be like. In the modern era of gaming, it is pretty normal to see small DLCs here and there, even to the point where it’s painfully common to see aesthetic DLCs.
But in the times of Starcraft, it was completely different. Starcraft Brood Wars included so many great things to the original game that it became a must-have for the fans. They added amazing introductions to the missions that had a cinematic quality. New themes, units, levels, missions, and much more. All of this while having an amazing plot and expanding the lore of Starcraft. Graphics and visuals: It maintains the very same visuals of the base game here.
They added new introductions to the missions that were incredibly better than those of the base game. It really leveled up the visual quality of the game in that aspect, and that wasn’t an easy thing to do. Gameplay: The game plays just as great as the original base game, as it should. It didn’t miss any of the base game mechanics, and it actually introduced new units. The new balances and the cool new combinations are excellent in Brood Wars.
Sound: The music in this game is incredible. They added new themes to go according to all the new content, and it’s just perfect. Adding sounds and music is one of the best, and most simple ways of improving a game through an expansion, and Brood Wars did it just perfectly.
After a long wait not to mention some vocal dissent on the Internet , Blizzard have finally released their StarCraft add-on, Brood War. And it has definitely been worth the wait: three more campaigns, seven additional units and some sensible faction-balancing has turned Starcraft from an okay game into something akin to the mutt’s nuts. The ancient Protoss live in harmony, connected to one another by the eternal psionic bond known as the Khala. They exiled the dissident individualists among them to the cold darkness of space long ago. Now, Protoss society has risen to unparalleled greatness, but their rigid hierarchy inspires rebellion, as the young Executor Artanis, dispatched to find his missing predecessor on a Zerg-infested planet, will shortly discover.

Shortly before discovering Zerg activity in the Koprulu sector, Tassadar observed the movements of the Terran species; now, he wonders if they might have greater potential than to be unwitting victims of the Zerg or casualties of the Protoss armada.
The Terrans are intrepid colonists, generations removed from Earth and governed by a failing Confederacy. Among the dilapidated fringe worlds, Marshal Jim Raynor joins up with a no-nonsense psionic assassin named Sarah Kerrigan and a group of aspiring freedom fighters to survive the destructive first contact of Protoss and Zerg.
Soon, planets throughout the sector spiral into all-out war, and Raynor realizes he may have signed up for something much bigger than mere survival. After graduating from the cutthroat academy, she earned her canister rifle and light-refracting stealth suit, and served the Confederacy with distinction.
Sarah has had many masters over her life. Keep in mind that freebies tend to melt the Interwebs, so don’t be surprised if you encounter a download delay or other issue.
