Ask a new question. On my laptop which I got in October of last yearI’ve noticed that in the Play folder on the Start menu, the contents will appear correctly if the folder isn’t open. These icons aren’t live tiles, btw, so disabling the live tiles on these apps doesn’t do anything. Windows menu icons download tried running DISM and System File Checker, I made sure all my apps were up to date and that I didn’t have any pending Windows updates, I tried resetting the icon cache, and I’ve even tried creating a new user account only to see the same thing as in, Start Menu with a bunch of download icons happen.

I even tried doing an in-place upgrade, only to find that the windods icons were still there. These download icons also show up when I switch my theme to Light mode– could that mean anything?

Don’t worry, these ICONS are apps icon recommended by Windows, usually from the Microsoft Store, they are just ICONS, these apps are not actually installed on your computer, only when you click on it, it will automatically download the app for you. If you don’t need these apps and want to remove these ICONS, you can right click the icon and choose “unpin from the Start menu”. You can also unisntall it by click “uninstall”.
